The seal had popped off of the plastic gasket, and due to the blower fan blades and the heat, it was not able to fit properly back on the unit. After spending a week researching new dryers (I was ready to drop the credit card down...) I pulled the unit apart and found the issue with the seal. After receiving the new part, it took me about 15 minutes to put the new one on... its a little tricky if you don't take the whole front apart. I had to do this by myself and I knew the drum assembly is very heavy. I had watched a video online where they used a strap to hold up the drum. However, my drum had nothing to hook to. So, since I had the front and back off, I slid a 2x4 under the drum from front to back, supported the front of the 2x4, and then lifted the drum with a hydraulic floor jack from the back. Removed the top panel, control panel, front panel and door seal. Sensor is underneath the drum and pulls out of a rubber grommet. Replacing is the same process in reverse. Helpful hit is that a couple little dabs of dishsoap on the metal lip helps a ton when putting the door seal back on, wouldn't hurt putting some on the sensor when slipping it back into the grommet either. I removed the door from the washing machine (4 Phillips head screws) I removed the outer plastic retainer ring, that holds the glass in place, took out broken glass, installed new, reinstalled the retainer ring, reattached the door to the machine and we were back ready to wash clothes. Read more
