Dust Cap
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR02X10322

This evaporator fan motor dust cap is an authentic OEM replacement part found on refrigerator and freezer fan motors. This dust cap prevents the fan motor bearing and housing from being damaged by dirt and debris. If the dust cap is cracked or broken, the fan may make loud squealing noises. If the dust cap is not removed and replaced, the fan could stop working and ultimately cause the refrigerator's temperature to be affected. To start, disconnect the power and water to the refrigerator. Remove food from the freezer so that the back panel of the freezer can be accessed to reach the fan. Remove the ice maker and set it outside the freezer. Disconnect the fan and take it out of the freezer to expose the fan's shaft and the dust cover. Pry the dust cover off and install the new one. Replace the fan and cover. Reconnect the wires and reinstall the icemaker. Put the food back in the freezer. Reconnect the power and water. The evaporator fan motor dust cap is a white plastic part that is sold individually. This dust cover is made for use in refrigerators manufactured by General Electric, Hotpoint, and Kenmore.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge side by side psc25 series ff section was not cooling well (42 degrees best it could do)   Robert B. • Morgantown , WV • October 19, 2014

Common theme on the blogs was thermistors and or defrost heater/thermostat. Ran self-diagnostics which turned on defrost heater which was fine. All five thermistors indicated ok on diagnostic also, but I read more than one time "replace the thermistors no matter what if your FF section isn't cooling". So I ordered all five thermistors and defrost limiter thermostat. Received all in 48 hours (great shipping service), took me about three hours to replace all thermistors and thermostat just as... Recess Door Retainer (Dispenser Ice Chute)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR2X8818

The recess door retainer secures the dispenser's ice chute flapper in the refrigerator door. Replacing a cracked or missing retainer restores proper flapper pivot and sealing to help reduce frost buildup and air leaks around the dispenser.

  • Holds the recess/ice door on its pivot within the dispenser assembly
  • Helps the flapper close fully to seal the ice chute
  • Restores smooth open/close action of the dispenser door
  • Common symptoms: loose or fallen flapper, poor chute seal, frost or condensation in the dispenser area, and ice clumping near the chute
What's included: 1 recess door retainer Install notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator before servicing the dispenser
  • Carefully remove the dispenser bezel/control panel to access the ice chute door assembly
  • Note spring orientation and retainer position; transfer components to the new retainer
  • Verify flapper movement and seal before reassembly and restoring power

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Yes ice was not coming out of the dispenser   Jason S. • Goose Creek , SC • December 02, 2014

I replaced the solenoid, door, spring and bucket. The bucket cracked from ice freezing inside it. Ice froze inside the bucket because the solenoid stopped pulling the door closed which allowed hot humid air into the freezer. While I was in there I replaced the dispenser door, spring and crank because they are cheap and the old ones were moldy. The mold is most likely from the door not closing and causing condensation on the parts as well. Read more

Screw
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR01X10789

This screw is a genuine General Electric part, sold individually. This screw can be used as a replacement part for a refrigerator. A screw can suffer damage in the lifespan of a refrigerator. It can also be easily lost or misplaced. Screws are small parts and are usually installed in multiples to ensure components are reliably attached, so one screw loosening or going missing might not necessarily affect the operability of the refrigerator. However, if the components loosen or the screw suffers damage that strips the part, such as punctures or erosion to the metal material from general wear and tear or from a direct impact, the screw should be removed and replaced with this genuine OEM replacement part. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer, and it is sold individually. This screw is compatible with the following appliance brands: General Electric, Hotpoint, RCA, and Americana.

Ice Maker Assembly (Refrigerator)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR30X28693

This refrigerator ice maker assembly freezes water and automatically ejects cubes into the bin. Replacing a failed unit restores steady, hands-free ice production and helps resolve common ice maker cycling and cube-ejection issues.

  • Freezes water in its mold, then harvests and drops finished cubes into the ice bin
  • Controls fill and harvest timing for consistent cube production
  • Typical failure symptoms: no ice production, unit stuck mid-cycle, cubes not ejecting, or loud clicking/grinding from the drive
  • Works with the refrigerator's controls to pause ice making when the bin is full
What's included: Ice maker assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing
  • Remove the ice bin and any covers; unmount the old ice maker and disconnect its wiring harness
  • Transfer any brackets, covers, or guides from the old unit if needed
  • Mount the new assembly, reconnect wiring, restore power/water, and allow up to 24 hours for full ice production
Tip: Check the water inlet valve and the fill tube for blockages or ice.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice maker stopped working   Sean L. • Tavares , FL • August 05, 2018

The ice maker stopped producing ice. The motor just made a periodic spinning noise and the ice maker never filled with water. I ordered a replacement ice maker and the valve just in case. I just ended up replacing the ice maker, which is just two screws and a plug. A couple hours later, the new Ice maker was making ice as good as new. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The temperature in the freezer was 6 and the temperature in the refrigerator would go to 48 the evap coil wasn't defrosting   Dennis W. • Elkhart , WI • June 29, 2019

After checking the defrost heater to confirm it was ok. I replaced the main electronic board. That wasn't it. After 1 1/2 weeks, it frosted up again. I called and talked to a tech person at APP and then ordered the air tower, defroster thermostat, and temp sensor. I installed them all and the frig works great. I know replacing all those parts at once didn't confirm which one failed, but I just wanted it fixed. The cost was less than having a service call. The parts arrived the day after... Read more

Blower Fan Duct
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR60X10330

This blower fan duct channels air moved by the evaporator fan through the refrigerator's air passages, helping maintain consistent temperatures and reliable cooling performance. Replacing a cracked or warped duct restores the designed airflow path and reduces fan noise. What it does:

  • Directs airflow from the evaporator fan to the cooling vents for proper circulation
  • Helps balance temperatures between compartments for even cooling
  • A damaged or misaligned duct can cause weak airflow, warm spots, frost/ice around the cover, or unusual fan noise
  • Restores correct air routing after breakage or warping
What's included: 1 blower fan duct Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing to avoid electrical shock or moving-fan injury
  • Remove shelves/drawers and the interior cover as needed to access the duct; retain screws and clips
  • Transfer any reusable seals or hardware from the original duct to the new part
  • After reassembly, ensure the fan spins freely and no rubbing noises are present before returning to service

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The fan in freezer section of GE Cafe refrigerator was becoming noisy and then the unit quit cooling .   Jim M. • Iowa Park , TX • February 27, 2023

Since it is difficult to get to the fans, I decided to replace both and avoid any future problems. I ordered the evap and duct fan motors and replaced both. I ordered the fans expecting it to take a week for delivery. They arrived the next day. The door of the freezer section must be removed, along with its slide rails to get to the cover panel in the rear of the freezer. Once the cover is removed, access to the motors is good and it's just unplug the old motors and plug in the new. I would... Read more
