Secures the evaporator fan assembly behind the rear freezer panel. Replace if cracked, rusted, or missing to restore proper fan mounting and clearance.
The problem was most likely the evaporator fan motor but it could have been a bad blade, loose parts or bad motor mounts. Hard to tell without taking everything apart and inspecting. Quickly on the face grille. Dismantled ice tray and inserted auger. Everything is pretty obvious for dismantling except the spring in the rod on the bottom (pay attention to how it is attached to the rod) and the plastic screw on the front of the auger (use pliers to grip it and it is reverse thread).
