This is a nut that is used in many microwave ovens. It is typically used to hold interior fan in place. A nut is a fastener that is used to hold two items together or keep one component secure against a surface. Use and time can cause the nut to become stripped, damaged, or broken. If the nut is broken, it will no longer hold the fan in the right location. The nut will need to be replaced.Before replacing this part, the microwave should be unplugged. Open the refrigerator door and remove the cover that goes over the fan. The nut can then be removed using a nut driver. As described, thanks your helped repair what the repairman would not or could not do.. Bottom element shorted and burned up from previous homeowner, not sure why or how? Replaced both heating elements, still no heat, the clock controller was also damaged due to the shorting even though it appeared to work OK, just no heat. Other than the indignity of having to buy a $28.00 bulb!! Installation required pulling the entire unit out of the wall and removing the sheet metal cabinet from around the microwave.
