I replaced the temperature sensor, the thermo fuse, and the heating element that thaws the evaporator on a cycle to keep the evaporator from freezing up. The most time consuming part of the repair was waiting for the fridge to thaw out so that I could remove the cover. Removed refrigerator panel, disconnected light and fan power. Removed fan assembly and replaced motor, grommets and fan attachment spring. Unit had adhesive on spring to help hold the spring. Chatted with customer service and clarified that spring and fan would easily pull off motor shaft. Adhesive probably was extra measure used during original build of the fridge. Ordered the pieces from here. Downloaded the user manual. I never work on appliances but I couldn't justify the $200 a service tech would have charged to fix a $35 part. Followed the manual and removed the door. Replaced the broken plastic pieces. BE VERY CAREFUL not to strip the screws. I did and that's another story. Very easy to fix. Replaced the defrost heater, Temp sensor, and defrost thermostat. I'm pretty sure the defrost heater was the only faulty part, but I replaced the other parts to be safe. After receiving the part, I found I had to dismantle the left side of the handle in order to fix the right side that was broken. When I took the left side of the handle off I found the plastic piece that broke on the right side was about to break on the left side also. Refrigerator door hinge shim installs between hinge and cabinet to correct door alignment. Replace if worn, cracked, or missing to level door properly.
This is a small white bushing that fits around the solenoid in the ice dispenser auger motor assembly. It reduces friction and vibration, allowing the solenoid to operate smoothly when dispensing ice. Replace this bushing if you hear unusual rattling or buzzing from the dispenser area, or if the ice dispenser is not engaging properly.
