Purchased new evaporator/heater/sensor assembly from appliance parts. Removed new heater, sensor and wire harness from new assembly and from existing unit in refrig section. Then installed new heater and sensor on old refrig evaporator, avoiding complex soldering and recharge with Freon. Once repaired all failure indications cleared and refrigerator section performing like new. Also purchased new heater for water tank and several broken plastic parts that went in in 2 minutes. Initially called repair man and he checked it out , took about half of the freezer insides out to decide the fan was bad. Then he informed me that he did not have part and was going to be on vacation for a week. So I finished tearing apart the freezer to get to part removing the ice maker and rear panel, removed fan and ordered new parts, parts arrived as said and I put back together. Changed the evaporator fan cover. I was told it comes with the fan motor and it did not so I had to order a fan motor. Then I found the fan wire harness was corroded and broken. I also installed an aluminum tab on the heater element that extends down the drain hole. I also had to clean the back of the fridge and unclog the two drain tubes on the back of the fridge next to the compressor and now it works fine. PS- use a small open end wrench to push the fan blade off the old fan. Read more
