This OEM replacement part is an electric stove cooktop. The cooktop is the main glass piece that sits on top of the stove. It is the flat surface above the burners where pots and pans are placed for cooking.To replace the cooktop, start by getting under the stovetop through the oven. Locate the mounting brackets and loosen them to a vertical position. After brackets have been loosened, push the cooktop up to lift above the stove. The glass top will be attached to a metal chassis. Unthread the screws that secure the top to the chassis. Take the new cooktop and place it on top of the chassis. Tighten the screws to secure the new top. Drop back into the stove and re-secure the mounting bracket.This genuine replacement cooktop is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand electric stoves.
