Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more

I watched a few videos on you tube and thought I had a general idea on how to replace. The unit we have the top panel was attached from the side panels below the top panel,so I had to remove the three sides and top. I kept all the screws and attachments in order, vacuumed and cleaned the best I could.Once the top panel was replace I was able to reinstall the sides.That was a little time but got it done.
