I replaced the door stop. Fortunately, I did NOT follow the advice on your Questions and Answers discussion and remove the door to do this: "You will need to remove the door hinge cover and hinge from the top of the door. Then lift and remove the door from the refrigerator. Lay the door on a soft surface and remove the screws holding the door stop WR2X9302 in place. Reinstall in reverse order." The two screws are fairly easy to remove with a socket wrench with the door in place. Read more
Harness to corset & shifter
Replaced the yellowed handles with new white ones and matching trim. The genuine GE replacements were not a 100% perfect fit but you can only tell if you're looking up close. Read more
Determined from the schematic on the inside of the cover of the icemaker that the likely problem was the "stop" micro switch.... Took the whole thing apart and confirmed the switch was defective. Replaced it with a standard DPDT switch - for a temporary fix. Went on line to find replacement. Bought it from APP Parts Pros. replaced DPDT switch with micro.. all is well.... saved at least $150 by not having a repair person come to the house - felling good about this..... Read more
This replacement part is an ice auger blade, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. This was a very easy repair, the on-line video at AppliancePartsPros.com was helpful. The Helix was spinning freely (meaning, the Auger Blade was not holding it in place on the Auger). Pulling the assembly apart was a snap, and very logical (the video is perfect if you get lost). The family is now enjoying both crushed and cubed ice - and the redesign of the Auger Blade seems to prevent clogging in the ice shoot. Read more
