I removed the 24mm nut holding the steel lower rotor, slid the rotor off, removed the upper coupling from the clutch unit, (3 #2 phillips screws with Loctite), removed all broken pieces, lightly lubed the central splined shaft, and reassembled the lower rotor. Read more

Our LG WT5001 top loader washer had gotten progressively worse over the last couple years. It started with a rumbling sound with seal squeaking noise.
