Daniel K Norwich` , VT September 06, 2014 Appliance: Kenmore Washer 79629272000 The moving coupling gear had sheared and broken into 3 pieces and the upper coupling plate itself had started to crack (the whole assembly is made of gfrp) I removed the 24mm nut holding the steel lower rotor, slid the rotor off, removed the upper coupling from the clutch unit, (3 #2 phillips screws with Loctite), removed all broken pieces, lightly lubed the central splined shaft, and reassembled the lower rotor.
