Freezer frosting over or fridge not cooling? A faulty defrost timer prevents automatic defrost cycles. DIY-friendly repair, typically takes 10-15 minutes.

Secures the evaporator fan shroud to the rear compartment frame. Replace if rusted, cracked, or broken to properly support the fan assembly and alignment.
The problem was most likely the evaporator fan motor but it could have been a bad blade, loose parts or bad motor mounts. Hard to tell without taking everything apart and inspecting. Since fridge was 17 years old I decided to order the entire evaporator fan assembly as shown in the parts diagram including fan blade, motor brackets, motor, motor mounts, screws, etc. Getting to the assembly involved removing the ice maker unit plus the entire rear inside of the freezer section. Changed the Frigidaire Icemaker Fill Tube Part # 241796405 (AP5671747) about a week ago and so far the Frigidaire Refrigerator seems to work fine. Did not use other ordered parts.
