My GE dryer from the late 80's/early 90's was squealing when it would start up, belt or bearing I was thinking. I found a manual online that covered my model and I watched a video on this site that showed me how to take it all apart, mine was a bit different but the principles were the same. I took it apart and added some quick-disconnects to 2 wires so next time I can take the front panel off easily. When I got to the bearing it looked worn but not bad so I cleaned it and put it back. ... Read more
This replacement part is a dryer clip, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. This dryer clip is typically found on dryers and there are usually multiple clips on one appliance. These clips help hold the front panel in place and secure so that it does not come off during the drying cycle. A new dryer clip might be needed if the front panel of the dryer is off balance or not attached correctly. It is possible that the clips can become loose over time as the appliance is prone to shaking and vibrating. The clips are important as it keeps the dangerous parts covered. If the entire front panel can be lifted off then it is time to replace the dryer clips. These clips are sold individually even though dryers typically have more than one. This clip is a genuine OEM part.

Turned out that the large gray boot/gasket had finally started to harden and deteriorate right at the bottom where the drain hose is. No surprise it leaked after seeing that. Installing the new gasket (and new clamps which I figured I would replace at the same time) did the trick. Fairly simple install. Do yourself a favor and buy the spring pliers to remove/install the clamps. Well worth the time and hassle they will save you. Read more
