This was for a bottom freezer model, which required removing the freezer door to be able to access the icemaker. GE bottom freezer icemaker stopped working for the 2nd time. Refrigerator bought in 2008, replaced (first time) icemaker in 2009 by GE tech for $450, after 7 years 2nd ice maker failed I decided to attempt replacing the icemaker myself. Holds ice produced by the icemaker and stages it for dispensing
Interfaces with the drive to move ice toward the chute when dispensing
Helps maintain proper ice flow and reduce clumping
Common symptoms: ice not dispensing or dispensing slowly, loud grinding during dispense, visible cracks, or ice spilling/leaking from the bin

Install notes:

Disconnect power and turn off the icemaker before servicing
Remove the old bin and discard any remaining ice; clear frost or debris from the drive area
Slide the new assembly straight onto the drive coupler until fully seated and latched
