I ordered the control panel from Appliance Parts Pros and installed it. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to unhook the 2 strips on the inside from the oven. All you need to do is lift up the back side of the clips and the strips will come right out. Install the new strips in the clips and then push down. This is a range control panel insert. This part fits over the top of the control panel and marks the burner control settings. Removed and unplugged dishwasher. Opened door and peeled off touch pad. Removed the screws that held the door together. Gently separated the inner and outer parts of the door. Removed the cable for touch pad. Fed new touch pad cable into door from top. And pressed cable back into fitting. Reassembled door. Plugged dishwasher back in and reinstalled into cabinet. Given that I had 14 house guests for a week, I tried calling a Maytag repair man to expedite the fix - unfortunately, he didn't have the part, but did identify the problem as a bad control panel. Not only did I find the answer, I found out I could fix it myself, so instead of replacing a $380 microwave oven I just fixed it.
