Keypad Parts

This is an oven with keypad directly above oven door. And needed to replace the keypad and housing. Pretty easy fix. first turn oven off at breaker and unplug unit. Second pull off top burner knobs and remove 2 screws that are hidden behind each knob. 4th remove housing screws (1 screw on each side of housing and 4 screws on bottom of housing). 5th pull out housing and disconnect all wire connectors from mother board. I replaced the control panel. I guess the problem could also have been the control board. I felt more certain about purchasing the control panel after removing the old one, and ohm-ing out pins that should have indicated small resistance when pressing front panel buttons, but all indicated open circuit. I looked up online what that meant and found the answer here on APpliancePartsPros. Not only did I find the answer, I found out I could fix it myself, so instead of replacing a $380 microwave oven I just fixed it. I ode red the part number DE94-01647A and looked on their site for instructions to install it. It only took me 20 minutes to complete the project. Looked up and found others had the same problem. Took model of stove to find the correct part. Ordered the part. Changing it out myself was easy once I knew how to pull the old one out. Read more

Googled constant beeping, not starting and was directed to the keypad controller. Ordered it, it was delivered next day. Removed the screws on the door, lifted the old keypad off with a knife since it is just glued on. Cleaned the old glue off with acetone and laid the new strip on. Could not have been easier. First we googled the problem and watched several videos on what could be the problem. Then we called in a repair man - $125 to test and get his diagnosis but we watched him take it apart and test. He said "throw out - these are disposable machines". The dishwasher is only 3 years old!. Ordered a new control panel and installed it; The repair is super easy and it would not take more than 10 minutes were I to do it again but because I had never done anything like this before I got stuck at one point and it took me a lot longer. I could not figure out how to get the electrical box off the old control panel - it was just a matter of bending the middle part of the plastic clips but I had not seen that kind of clip before and it was not immediately evident. After discussing issue with chat assistant, I ordered a new control panel. It arrived on the second day. Removed the old panel, cleaned around the area, and installed the new one. It works now just like new. The local place was going to charge me almost $400 but got away with spending only $250 and didn't have to wait for the repairman to arrive.
