This small plastic gear is part of the freezer drawer slide mechanism, allowing the drawer to open and close smoothly on its track. It meshes with the rail system to provide controlled, even movement of the drawer. Replace this gear if the freezer drawer is difficult to open, feels jerky or uneven when sliding, or if the original gear teeth are worn or broken.
Ordered the parts, which was a pair of ice gears and the bar that connects them. Had to refer to upper freezer drawer to figure out how the gears fit into the rails. Turns out they snap into a plastic hub that is riveted on the rail. Took some effort to finally get them to snap on. At first it seemed like they would not fit. I ordered a replacement handle from Appliance Parts Pro.com and installed it after watching the video at their site for a similar model. The video told of the trick on removing the door surround that allowed me to access the handle screws. I purchased new handle screws at the same time I bought the new handle. The new handle and screws were a bit different than the original but fit perfectly. Hopefully it will be more durable than the original handle. Read more

Replaced the hub nut, tub bearing split ring, tub seal, hub washer and agitator coupler. I watched multiple times the APP video. It was extremely helpful and I would not have attempted this without seeing the video. I had a lot of trouble getting the hub nut off. I used an 1 5/8" 6 point strike box wrench and a 4# hammer to get it off. I sprayed it with WD 40 5 or 6 times over of the course of a week to let it soak. I finally got it off.
