This is a black rubber or plastic actuator pad located on the front of the refrigerator's water or ice dispenser. It serves as the push pad that activates the dispenser switch when you press a glass against it. Replace this pad if it is cracked, missing, or no longer properly triggering the dispenser when pressed.

Replaced door lock. It required removing the two screws around the lock, pulling the spring hoop wire from around the door gasket, and then disconnecting the two wire terminals from the lock. Reverse with the new part. After cracking open the old lock the failure was caused by a thin plastic tab breaking off.
