I unplugged the unit. Let the evap thaw. Measured with an ohm meter the temp sensor, defrost sensor and evap heaters. Defrost sensor measured completely " closed". Put sensor into hot water and ice, the reading never changed. Ordered sensor from AP PROS, got the part extremely fast, installed part, freezer was making ice in an hour. I did a lot of online research, too. Thanks, AP PROS! Freezer only down 3 days. Fridge side working. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No lights in refrigerator   Lance B. • League City , TX • November 06, 2020

We bought a new house that has a 15 year old GE Monogram built in fridge. The home warranty people sent two guys out saying it was nearly impossible to repair the fridge and they both suggested buying a completely new freezer door for the fridge and of course the warranty company said it was preexisting and we weren't covered. Shocker. I have lighting in the freezer but not the fridge. I purchased a door switch and replaced the old one but that didn't do the trick. So i purchased a 2 amp fuse... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Not cooling properly eventually evaporator fan failure   Richard D. • Wood Ridge , NJ • April 25, 2016

My problem first showed up as varying temperature in both sections of my old mid 1970’s Frigidaire model FPCI-170T-7 refrigerator, which is not listed on most appliance repair databases. The evaporator fan eventually failed after a day or so, and a major repair was... Read more
