The Evaporator Fan Blade is an OEM component for GE freezers and bottom-mount refrigerator designs. Located inside the freezer compartment, this fan blade spins to circulate cold air evenly throughout the storage space.
Causes of a faulty evaporator fan blade include natural fatigue from running year-round. Freezers exposed to humid environments may experience faster corrosion.

I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet.
