It went very well and the time estimate you gave (15 minutes) was quite accurate. I am a 73 year old woman (former banker) with little technical training. In my day, girls were only required to take home ec. Shop class was not an option. The most challenging aspect of the repair was, due to the location of the shield (right-side wall) my work all had to be done with my left hand and I am right-handed. If your microwave turntable won't spin or makes grinding noises, the turntable motor likely failed. Simple fix with basic screwdriver work.
I ordered the replacement motor. I unplugged the microwave. Then I simply removed the turntable spindle by lifting it up off the motor from inside the microwave. Next, I removed the 7 screws holing the bottom of the microwave in place. I lowered the bottom of the microwave, giving me access to the motor. I unplugged the two wires connected to the motor, removed the 2 screws holding the motor in place, then put the new motor in place and reversed the steps to complete the job. Read more
