This genuine OEM replacement auger bearing flange fits a wide range of snowblowers. The auger is the part of a snowblower that scoops up and moves it away from the area being cleared. It is held in place by a bearing, and this flange connects to the bearing to reduce friction and motion. This flange helps prevent grinding, which would degrade the bearing and cause the auger to stop working effectively. Bearings and flanges receive a lot of wear and tear because they are built to absorb friction. Over the natural course of an appliance's life, bearings and flanges will normally wear down and need replacing. If a bearing flange snaps, the auger will no longer turn, and the snowblower will not move snow. To replace a bearing flange, use a socket wrench to gain access to the belt cover and then detach the auger housing. Remove the pulley and thread, then take the auger out of its housing. This is a bushing made from black plastic with a cleft down the middle to provide enough flex for easy insertion. It has a flanged design, which means it won’t easily pop out after installation, even under stress from constant vibration. The bushing’s primary purpose is to protect wires and cables from damage as they pass through a channel. As such, the material is fairly durable and does not need to be replaced under ordinary circumstances. That said, there are some situations in which it can become damaged. For one thing, it’s easy to damage while repairing the wires or cables that run through the bushing. If the bushing does need to be replaced, it requires disconnecting any cables or wires that run through the bushing. Pop out the old bushing with a rubber mallet, install the new bushing the same way, reconnect the wires, and the repair is complete.
