Mary A Memphis , TN January 07, 2026 Appliance: Model ATEE9ASP178TW01 Speed queen stacked washer/dryer washer door cracked at hinge and fell off and glass shattered Speed Queen is out of stock in the washer door for this model and the appliance repair company said it was on back order indefinitely. I had saved the broken door so I ordered the inner plastic liner and the glass separately and used the saved outer door part and the screws and bracket and the mechanism that inserts into the machine itself to lock the door in place and sandwiched everything together and after a few attempts at the correct order of putting it all together, managed to get it attached to the hinge (also saved) on the machine and the door lined up perfectly and ran a couple of load of wash and no water leaked out so I guess it worked. Note to other owners of this stacked washer/dryer model: do NOT leave the washer door opened for airing without being supported from underneath to take the weight off the plastic door lining as it's this plastic door lining that keeps the door on the machine, nothing else. It's a heavy door for such flimsy and brittle plastic. Do NOT lean on the door, even when putting a load in or taking a load out, and do NOT slam the door. If it doesn't line up and doesn't close easily, it's probably already starting to crack around the screws in the hinge. I expect I'll have to replace the plastic lining several times over the years, despite being very careful with the wear and tear on this repaired door. Hopefully next time I'll notice what's going on before it falls off completely and the glass shatters again. I wish I could find more of the clips to hold the glass in place, there are 6 empty spots.
