Carla P Keller , TX August 10, 2015 Microwave was arcing Our microwave was arcing due to the shelf that is in the middle of the microwave and one of the holders became loose over time. In order to fix the problem I removed the loose holder, ordered microwave interior cavity paint and once that was received sanded down the two spots that were scorched from the shelf, applied three light coats of the microwave cavity paint, and then finally popped in the new shelf holder. Once this was all done I microwaved a cup of water and there was no arcing. I will not be reinstalling the shelf as I have read this is what caused the problem to begin with from the weight of the shelf, and we never use it anyway. A note: do let the paint dry between coats and wait 24 hours before installing holder and testing. The hardest part of this repair was removing the bad holder. The holders have little clips that anchor it into place securely, so a bit of a battle trying to remove without causing further damage.
