Edward B Ellisville , MO March 07, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer LSR8233EQ1 Clothes not sinning dry enough Based on recommendation to replace the clutch if clothes aren't spinning dry enough, I ordered a new clutch. Upon disassembly, I observed no Ring Wire/C-Clip and that the bearing appeared worn. Where did the clip go? Well, the bearing wore down such that it wore out the clip and bearing up to the sleeve of the shaft. Knocked out the old bearing, tapped in the new and was done. I disassembled the brake shoes but believe you can get the bearing in and out without doing so. Not a bad job, just need a long rod to knock out the bearing. John B Nesconset , NY March 14, 2020 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WTW57ESVW1 Replacing spin tube bearing. Pretty much followed the video but with one exception. I did not remove the the Spin Tube. What I did is, I used the 3/8 extensions Tape together with Electrical Tape and while the machine was upright. I hammered the bearing out onto the floor. Then put the machine on it's back and used a small 1x4 and hammer to install the bearing. Then reassembled everything AS Per the video! Just to change the bearing was about 5 minutes. The whole project took about an hour. Good Luck! Hope this helps! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set

David S Pleasanton , CA October 09, 2024 Clutch wore out found that the spin tube bearing was the culprit in that it wore out first which caused the clutch to wear out When the spin tube bearing wears out there is nothing to hold the ring wire in place to hold the clutch in place. To replace the spine tube bearing the drive shaft and tub must be removed from the machine. to remove the tub the spanner wrench is required. Once fully disassembled the old spin tube bearing must be removed by banging it out of the main drive shaft. A long wooden dowl and an hammer will accomplish this task. While you have everything apart it is a good time to clean the tub and other parts. Replace the Spin tube bearing and then put everything back together again. Paying attention to the clutch assembly and ring wire. It is always important to test out they system prior to putting the machine back in its place if possible (without water attached). and then with water attached. Read More...
