William M Boston , MA February 08, 2019 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer CAP2761EW1 None 18 years of service and some hints that a rebuild or replacement would be needed not fond of build quality of new machines chose to rebuild older model Performed a partial rebuild of all expendables..clutch/brake/ seals/agitator cogs/suspension springs..chose to replace the basket drive rather than rebuild...cost diff was minimal.did rebuild the drive tube..seals/bearings..have spare control card..so exposure is to motor or gearbox failure..both of which are easy pulls..Whether we would rebuild or replace gearbox upon some future failure is undecided. Note the videos offered by APP are quite good but there are sometimes minor gaps in the tear down and the model that the procedure is being demo'd for may differ from yours..also there can be minor parts discrepancies in the diagrams..eg you will get the right part but what is shown in the model diagram may differ....found to be true regarding agitator cog assemblies. Also procedures appear easy when someone else is doing it for the 100th time..Murphys Law....You need adequate tools ..like maybe a screwdriver is not going to budge a tub nut without hacking it up..or bearings are not going to come out all that easy. Not a biggy but our model has a coin box so some extra steps were needed to deal with the wiring. Read More...
