Description

This defrost thermostat senses evaporator temperature to control the defrost heater. Replacing a failed thermostat restores proper defrosting, prevents overheating during the defrost cycle, and helps maintain stable cooling performance.

• Monitors evaporator coil temperature and closes to power the defrost heater during defrost
• Opens the heater circuit as the coil warms to terminate defrost and prevent overheating
• Helps clear frost from the evaporator so air can circulate between freezer and refrigerator
• Failure may present as heavy frost/ice buildup, reduced cooling in the fresh food section, the evaporator fan hitting ice, or a defrost cycle that fails to start
