Marcus A Marathon , FL February 28, 2016 Appliance: Maytag 30" Electric Built-In Downdraft Cooktop JED8230ADS14 Downdraft fan not working on jenn air jed8230ads Used non-contact voltage detector on fan motor wires to determine that power was getting past the switch indicating motor was bad not the switch. Was able to easily remove fan by taking off 4 nuts from mounting studs leaving plenum and everything else in place, cut wiring harness close to motor leaving as long as possible wires remaining connected to switch. Saved a lot of time and problems by leaving original harness connected to switch and splicing new harness to old one. The only difficult part was removing fan blade from old motor to new motor (spent more time cleaning fan blade than on the rest of the job), would consider buying new blade if I had to do it again.
