Stefan K Youngsville , NC February 25, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MEDX500XW0 The blower wheel in the dryer separated from the nut It was a relatively easy fix - if you know how to take the dryer apart. If you don't, there are plenty of YouTube videos explaining how. Make sure you find your model. Since the wheel had separated from the nut, it wasn't quite as easy and holding the shaft and loosening the wheel. I had to remove (destroy) the wheel first. Then I was left with the nut on the shaft. The nut was seated on the shaft a lot tighter than I expected and took some force to get off. Once it was off, putting the new wheel on and putting the dryer back together was easy. A couple notes: - Above, when I refer to the nut, it's not typically what you'd think of as a nut. It's about an inch long and screws on to the shaft. - The wheel is REVERSE threaded. Just follow the arrows on the wheel and you'll be fine. Read More...
