Whirlpool WPW10350780 Electronic Control Board (Main Control Assembly) OEM Part

The tech spent less than 10 minutes pushing buttons on the unit and 20 to 30 minutes in his vehicle getting pricing to replace all of the controls. He offered us two options on top of the $140 service call: $4000 to fix or replace it ($5500). We had to at least try to fix it ourselves, so we cut the power, removed the unit from the wall (so heavy), removed the display board and discovered the service manual in there, which was very helpful, but was missing one of the code error descriptions we were seeing on the display. We removed sheet metal covers on the top and checked for physical darkening or disconnects. With volt-ohm meter located and checked the fuses, transmitter, and both control boards (one for the oven and one for microwave). Everything was working as it should except the control board for the microwave, which we ordered from Appliance Pros, who confirmed with us exactly which part we needed. The package arrived a day early, but the part was wrapped only loosely in tiny bubble wrap, no tape, and had been jostled all around the inside of the box on its way to us. Also, the box was torn and it had been raining. We didn't see any physical damage on the part, so we installed it. Finally, we went through the totally annoying process of checking for error codes, and there were none. We powered it up and warmed our coffees. There were a lot of ways we needed to be very careful in this process and it took several hours, but thank Jesus he blessed us with know-how and a little common sense. The world might be a better place if "certified" technicians were better prepared to diagnose problems like this, instead of simply being bearers of bad news. That's gotta be hard for them too.
