Whirlpool WPW10183845 Console OEM Part

I found that there is a gray plastic piece which holds the control board. A small plastic part which holds the "start" switch had broken off. I found that I could not order just the complete control board gray part by itself. I would have to order the complete control console. Keep in mind that the control circuit board was completely operational. I used J-B Weld to glue the broken small plastic piece back in place and let it cure for 24 hours. Then I reassembled the washer (Whirlpool Cabrio) control console and everything is working fine. The day after I repaired the "start" switch retainer, the new control console arrived. It had everything (including the control circuit board) ready to be installed. I am keeping it as a backup just in case that my repair job fails, but I believe that I have permanently fixed the problem with the JB Weld product. It would be nice if the Whirlpool people would sale only the console without the control circuit board. I did not need the circuit board. It appears to be a method by which Whirlpool makes additional money by including everything that is contained in the control console. It is interesting to note that you can buy the control circuit board as a separate item if that is all that is needed to repair the washer. They could cut the cost of the control console in half if they just removed the control circuit board and save the DIY consumer some money. I stated that the project took 2 plus hours because I waited for the JB Weld to cure; however, it would have been that long while waiting for the new part to be shipped (about 48 hours).
