He wasn't sure, but he said 90% of the time he sees this problem, it is in the Start button flex circuit itself. He quoted the repair at $464, and talked with us about the possibility of buying a new dishwasher instead of making the repair. On AppliancePartsPros I was able to find the control panel for $132. You can't buy the button panel separate from the whole control panel, which is silly because the rest of the control panel is simple the injection-molded piece you already have. With a simple reconnection of the ribbon cable and connectors, the control panel was back in place and ready to go. When I pressed Start, the dishwasher took off like new!!
