Andrew M Owosso , MI September 03, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher MDBH968AWB1 Control panel ribbon cable corroded Replaced the control panel. Really simple replacement. Make sure to disconnect power from dishwasher before starting. 1. Remove the inside door panel by removing the torx screws around the perimeter. Be careful not to lose the small vent gasket. There is enough wire to allow the panel to be moved out of the way, but remember that the door is spring loaded, so you may want to place a small weight on the outer door panel to keep it from springing closed. 2. Remove the cover from the circuit board box on the right by removing the center hex screw. 3. Disconnect the ribbon cable by gently pulling it straight out of its connector. This should "open" the connector at the same time. 4. Remove the 2 hex screws holding the circuit board box, and move it out of your way. Also move the latch assembly out of the way at this point. 5. Remove the handle by removing the 2 Torx screws that hold it on. Make sure to completely remove the screws as they also connect the control panel assembly to the outer door panel. 6. Pull the old control panel assembly out, slide in the replacement, and reverse the steps. Note: The ribbon cable will be routed under the circuit board box, so it is possible to pinch the ribbon cable between the bottom of the box and the outer door panel. Make sure the ribbon cable is sliding freely under the box before snugging up the screws that hold the circuit board box to the control panel assembly. Read More...
