Paulette P New Orleans , LA February 02, 2015 While taking a porcelain cup from microwave i accidentally dropped it on my glass stove top and cracked the glass on one of the burners After searching online for a new stove glass top, found it at Appliance Parts Pros and it cost half the price to replace the glass vs. actually purchasing a brand new stove top! It was not in stock when I called but I was kept updated on when it would be in from the manufacturer. It was then shipped and my son installed it today. Great sales service and money saving. Paula, the customer service rep I spoke to was extremely polite and very helpful. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Michael F Houston , TX September 30, 2014 Appliance: Amana Electric Cooktop AKT3040E The glass on my cooktop was broken (i suspect my dachshund beanie ) I pulled the cooktop from the counter and (carefully) removed the broken glass top from the pan. This proved to be harder than expected, as the 20 screws holding the glass to the pan had been over-torqued. I had to use my driver drill to get them off, and even then one was stripped. I finally did get it off by repeatedly bending the glass/frame until the screw was loose. Then, when I took the new cooktop out of the box I noticed that it had a ding in the front edge. Since it's symmetric, I loosened the power cable (I had flipped the breaker before I started the repair) and turned it around (rotated the pan 180 degrees). I was careful not to overtighten the screws when attaching the new cooktop to the pan. Then I powered up and checked everything out. Voila! The burner control knobs are now on the left, but it looks great! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
