William R Ramsey , MN August 01, 2015 Appliance: Maytag 30" Electric Built-In Downdraft Cooktop JED4430WR01 Broken glass cooktop The part arrived well packaged. The procedure to replace is: 1. Disconnect from power by unplugging unit. Remove cooktop from countertop, removing screws from the exhaust fan ducting first. 2. Remove 12 screws around periphery of old cooktop glass after removing from the countertop. 3. Lift old glass off of the unit far enough to disconnect the wiring harness connections, remove gass and lay upside and remove four burners, wiring harness and control board with metal shield. They are screwed to the unit, save all screws. 4. Install old burners, control panel and shield using the old self tapping screws onto the new cooktop. Make sure to clean any broken glass from the burner units before installing. 5. Reconnect harnesses, consider plugging the unit in to test prior to reinstalling in the reverse order.
