Frederick S Whittier , CA August 31, 2015 Appliance: KitchenAid 30" Slide-In Range Designer Style Convection Oven KGSC308LSS0 Kitchenaid superba oven display blank Oven display began flickering, then fading to completely black, but still functioned for some time. When oven was on broil or high heat for too long the display would flicker back on, and enter commands on its own. Even went into Self Clean mode while something was baking, and locked the oven door (very dangerous). New control board took about 10 minutes to replace. Just a few screws beneath it, and a few wire-harness plugs to unplug and plug back in on the new unit. The plugs each only fit in one place, so you can't accidentally mess anything up. Once the unit came back on, the display lit up brightly, but displayed an f1-E3 error. Some quick googling found the following fix...which I didn't think would work, but did. STEP 1 Unplug the unit and wait 5 seconds. STEP 2 Plug back in and wait 5 seconds. STEP 3 Press the following keys: >CONV. BROIL >CLEAN >BAKED GOODS >Enter 190 >TIMER SET STEP 4 Press START 12 Times STEP 5 Make sure Timer ID is the same as the oven. STEP 6 Press CANCEL to exit. John M St. Joseph , MI October 07, 2014 Display was totally gone I had the local service guys out in June '13. They said it was the board and that it would cost $530 with labor, including that day's service call. I passed on it thinking I could live without the display. 15 months later, I was sick of it so called the service guys and they wanted to charge for a diagnostic visit again. So I decided to buy the board here and swap it out myself. I got the board in two days, it came complete with instructions on how to reset the unit. Once the covers were off, it was a little daunting. The connections were nothing like those shown in your video. But I kept plugging away and after about 45 minutes it was up and running. The display is still going fine and I couldn't be happier. And I saved at least $120. Thanks. Chris A San Francisco , CA January 20, 2017 Appliance: KitchenAid 30" Slide In Gas Range KGST307HBS8 Control board After installation I was getting error code F1:E3, called and Jeana said I needed another board, which I thought I had nothing to do with this code. I uninstalled the card and reconnected it, and sure enough it worked like a charm, did all the 12 programing steps of the KitchenAid stove, now it is like brand new again. However, I installed it in less than 15 min, but longer to figure out the error code. Jana should not be encouraging customers to buy another part without knowing the facts. However, Johnny came through for me. Thanks, WLevy Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Screwdrivers
