James S Boca Raton , FL January 07, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Self Cleaning Slide-In Electric Range MES5770ACW Dual burner on maytag slide in range circa 2002 burned out Installed replacement burner. Not a one-to-one fit where the wiring is concerned but everything needed to effect the change out was provided with the part. It is important to make notes of what was connected to what on the old one and to compare that to the new one. I used a download of the wiring diagram to good effect because it has the color code for the wiring on it. I am an engineer and can read such things which the average DIY'r might not be able to do so the notes will help. The new burner is faster than the old one. The only difficulty was in taking the stove body apart to get the top off and then of putting it back together. I suggest taking pictures before starting and making notes of what goes where. To correctly diagnose the problem you need a VOM or Volt-Ohmeter. This will let you determine that the element is burned out as opposed to the possibility that the burner control or the hi-limit thermostat or the infinity thermostat is bad. It was a bit challenging, since the original part was re-engineered and the instructions included with the new burner did not cover the replacement from the old to the new properly for a double burner element.
