William B Pahoa , HI January 15, 2016 Appliance: Model 106.50022 211 The problem was ice buildup on the floor of the freezer A YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIdtNdDXFDk , by a professional appliance repair company described replacement of the freezer drain pipe with Kenmore's (by Whirlpool) revised drain pipe. Ice buildup inside the freezer was caused by warm air beneath the freezer contacting cold air from inside the freezer the resulting condensation freezing and blocking the drain, causing the ice buildup inside. The revised drain tube functions as a p-trap to prevent cold/warm air interaction. The replacement of the original drain was straight forward after reviewing the video mentioned. Frank W La Vernia , TX April 12, 2016 Appliance: Model 106.52603100 Defrost drain on my kenmore elite continously freezing up I viewed a youtube video that spoke about a product improvement ..P-Trap drain..that eliminates warm air entering the old style non P-Trap drain. Now installed no more freezing up. One thing to note, due to age of the rubber grommet the drain goes in, it was impossible to get new drain in the correct position. I used silicone sealant at the under fridge location to seal. Worked perfect and was a perfect replacement. Defrosting the ice took longer than the drain install !
