Whirlpool WP4151750 Charcoal Filter OEM Part

This trash compactor is in our vacation home. We never use it and now we are selling the house. When I looked to replace it I was amazed at how expensive a new compactor would cost. I found the serial number on the current compact entered it and your web site came up. Your schematics were excellent and made the repair very easy!

Main shut off switch was broken. Bought replacement and had it fixed in less than 20 minutes.

I watched the online video on how to take apart the Kitchen Aid trash compactor and proceeded to take it apart to find the large drive gear was broke in half. I ordered the drive gear kit, and the recommended changing the power nut kits when changing the drive gears, I watched the videos on how to change the drive gear and the power nuts and then completed the repair. The hardest part of the repair is driving out the pin that holds the small gear in place. I had a punch that fit the diameter of the pin, but the gear kept spinning when hitting the pin. I kept at it moving it little by little until it came out. Driving in the new pin went a lot better. Not so sure that I needed to change the power nuts, as they seemed to look ok, but the compactor is 15 years old so I reasoned that I probably saved a future repair.

Repair was very easy took me about five minutes
