Edward A Brookfield , WI August 11, 2015 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Downdraft Surface Unit JED8430ADB Burner in glass top range control only has off or full on modes Based on internet search and data found on APPLIANCE PARTS PRO, I deduced that the "infinite control " module was most likely bad. Replaced it and all is good. Toughest part was remembering how to disengage cooktop from down draft blower and then pulling the cook top up in within it's opening. Once pulled up, I put short 2x4's across the opening corners to support the cooktop safely while I worked on it. Next issue was figuring out exactly which screws held the glass top in place. As part of this repair, I've marked the cook top chassis with a Sharpie pointing to the right screws so next time (there will be a next time!) I will know which screws must be removed to free the top, from those that hold other internal parts in place! By the way, a nut driver bit in my battery powered driver made the task quick and easy. CAUTIONS: 1) Be sure to turn off power! 2) Move the wires "one by one" from the OLD control to corresponding pin on the NEW control so the wiring doesn't get mixed up. Michele R Houston , TX June 01, 2015 Worn out air grill and ventilation filter Our black Jenn-Air Expressions downdraft cooktop is 19 years old. It still works great, but the air grill had seen better days (peeling finish) and the downdraft ventilation filter was simply nasty. No matter how many times I've soaked and scrubbed it, I've never been able to get rid of that old, rancid grease smell. We've just updated our kitchen with new stainless Jenn-Air appliances, but I didn't want the maintenance of a stainless cooktop. Until I can find a suitable replacement, I just decided to replace the air grill and ventilation filter and my old cooktop looks (and smells) almost new! Both were a perfect fit...no tools required. Thanks for making it so easy to identify what parts I needed. I was amazed at how quickly I received my order, too.
