Whirlpool 8193506 Float Switch Kit OEM Part

Removed bottom cover, located leak at float switch, removed and replaced float switch kit. The toughest part of the repair was removing the Float & Retainer Assembly (in the interior of the machine tank) which broke when I pushed it back and pulled it straight up as suggested in the service manual. The Float Switch Kit (attached to, and below the float, below and outside the tank) has a folding plastic cover which fastens with plastic clips. If you open the switch kit before removing the float, you will see that you need to maneuver the bottom of the float shaft out of the switch before pulling the float out. Once disassembled and with new parts in hand, reassembly took about 5 minutes. APP parts were easy to order, reasonably priced and delivered next day with standard shipping. Best of all, they worked, stopping the leak!

Removed front kick plate, found overflow valve assembly leaking . When parts arrived removed and replaced overflow valve. Took about 10 minutes

Installed the new float switch and float. Everything was easy to do and no more leaking.

Very easy fix. Completed in less than 5 minutes. Not more leaking water.

Replaced float switch with kit, seals and float. Repair would have been a breeze if Kitchenmaid, in it's infinite wisdom, had NOT sealed the front panel to the door insulation with epoxy! It took longer to separate the door panel from the door (in order to get to the float switch assembly) than to do the repair. Thanks Kitchenmaid!
