Whirlpool WP12550101Q Freezer Door Gasket OEM Part

I ordered the replacement gasket and...replaced it. One issue was that the replacement procedure was not at all like the video to which I was directed when I got the gasket. The video showed a gasket with a rigid flange that had to be inserted into the door structure. On my Amana, I clearly had to remove the inner plastic liner and set the gasket under it. This was not particularly difficult but certainly wasn't the same process. Also, I removed the freezer door to do the replacement in accordance with the video instructions. This probably is not necessary on this model.

I bought a new gasket from Appliance Parts Pros and it fit perfect. My husband took off the old one and put the new one on. It was very easy. also, I called Amana first, to order the part, and they wanted $102.00 , Appliance Parts only charged around $ 84.00.

It was easy to pull out the old gasket and replace with the new. Be sure to use the hair dryer to work out any kinks. I thought that I had done a good job before installing it but noticed that the kinks were still partially there after I finished the installation which kept it from sealing properly. A little more patience with the hair dryer and it works great. Installed two weeks ago and no issues since. FYI - you will not get a great seal at first, you need the freezer to operate for about 12 hours and then it will keep the seal.
