After some back and forth with the wife about whether or not to replace a 30 year old cook top stove with two non functioning burners, the cost to replace with a brand new stove would've been too much not to mention all new cooktops require 40A or 50A source breakers which ours is only 30A. This is kind of hard to mitigate when our cooktop is on an island on the opposite side of the house with a story above us and a solid concrete foundation. So better for now to fix it with a simple Rheostat and receptacle fix after doing some googling on how simple it is to fix those specific problems. I hope the stove last up until we finally decide to remodel the kitchen. This website was helpful in that it provided the manuals in order to specify what parts were required (including equivalent rheostat) to repair our cooktop.
