Gordon H Lake Wales , FL March 03, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool Free Standing Electric Range GR440LXMP0 Oven door handle broke where screw attaches also from previous work i desired to replace the glass support at the bottom of the door The parts arrived in short time. Had to go to YouTube to learn how to get the door off. My range is about 2004 model. The YouTube video I found did not represent my installation but gave me enough information to remove the clip so the hinge could come free. Installing the handle was difficult to impossible to get the attaching screw in. I finally had to drill out the screw receptacle a bit to where I could get the screw in. I was afraid I would break the plastic the screw goes into. Finally with my wife holding the door and all the strength I could muster on the screw driver I was able to get them in. Then came putting the hinge back into the range. No place was told to insert a nail or something into the hinge part that was attached to the door. After studying the installation I did anchor the hinge opened and slip the door into place, install the hinge keepers, and the job was finished. Saved purchasing another range. My wife was not happy. The drawing was not clear on how many screws held the handle on. The screw goes on very hard, so you have to use lots of force to turn it into place.
