Scott R Appleton , WI June 21, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MSD2456DEQ Frost buildup on the evaporator coils I replaced this defrost heater assembly, first, because it was significantly bent and twisted from the original L-shape. Provided that the the freezer is defrosted, this is a quick and easy repair if you are patient and willing to wind the wires, step by step, out of and back into the right side of the coils. Protect your hands, and if you must use pliers to replace the clip that holds the heater, be very careful to avoid damaging the evaporator.
