Edgar A Kansas City , MO July 04, 2015 Appliance: Jenn-Air Electric Wall Oven W131B-C Broken hinge spring Turn off power at circuit breaker. Pull oven from wall. Remove trim. Remove side panel. Remove back panel. Remove insulation cover, which is a metal cover very similar to and inside the side panel. Remove old hinge assembly and install new one. Replace panels and trim. All panels and trim are fastened with Phillips head screws. Hinges are fastened with hex bolts, so you need a Phillips head screwdriver and socket set or nut driver. I had one hinge spring broken but replaced both hinges, probably being overly cautious. It took about 45 minutes per side. Robert M Taunton , MA July 11, 2015 Appliance: Magic Chef Range-S/C F/S T/Svr/Booster El 3968VVA Spring on hinge broke magic chef timesavor range Replaced both hinges since you know what happens if you just do one. There was a screw on each side of the door that attached the door to the hinge. Remove them and lifted the door off the hinges. Removed the back plate and the screws holding on the side panels. Removed the 3 screws attaching the front of the range top to the front of the oven and lifted it up to access two more screws attaching the side covers to the top of the range. Removed the side covers and then there was a single screw on the back holding the interior shields in place. Removed the interior shields which exposed the insulation and the hinge assemblies. Replaced the hinges and put everything back together. The interior shields were a pain to get back in - you really have to work at it since they slide behind electrical connections in the front and fit behind a support on the bottom. It too longer than it could have since I cleaned as I went and needed to adjust one of the burner assemblies. When the new hinges were attached to the range the holes have a different thread so they don't go in easily. I wound up using a 5/16 nut driver to get the extra torque. Ken V Wylie , TX June 12, 2014 Appliance: Model W131W (JENN-AIR) Spring had broke on hinge hinge bent I had to remove the oven, which meant electrical disconnections (pay attention!). The hinge is located under two side covers, so those had to be removed, along with the same on the back (they interconnect). All went back together, cleaned oven up (it was dirty-dust, especially the fan, and reinstalled. Wala, works fine again. Great competitive price on part and shipping arrived promptly.
