Description

The Lid Hinge (left) is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool brand top-load washing machines. It is the hinge mechanism attached to the left side of the washer door assembly.

Symptoms of a bad hinge include: 

  • Looseness, wobbling, or inability to securely support the weight of the washer door
  • Strange noises or difficulty smoothly operating the door 
  • Failure to keep the door fully open or closed
  • Potential safety hazards if the door cannot be properly positioned

Causes involve wear and tear from repeated opening and closing of the washer door over many cycles, as well as damage from excessive weight loads placed on the door over time.

This Whirlpool replacement part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, and select Kenmore models.

Lid breaks at the left hinge

Replaced hinge and lid. Need a #2 torque bit and Phillips driver. The hinge assembly is tight which puts strain on the glass. Take the white plunger off and it works better. That is what causes the glass to break. After 3 lids I finally figured out what was causing it to break. I ordered one from OEM was a headache!!! AppliancePartsPros.com was easy and the lid got lost from Fedex. Called AppliancePartsPros.com they sent a new one no questions asked. Great company to do business with. Give them a 10-star rating!!!
