Glenn F Columbus , IN January 03, 2016 Appliance: Model 106.59562990 Water filter housing "in" and "out" lines leaked following replacement of water inlet valve First Problem - WATER INLET VALVE - After having problems with ice maker not making ice, I troubleshot and replaced the water inlet valve. Video and instructions were excellent. With 16 year old fridge, the water lines had compression fittings in the old valve, so had to cut the fittings off with a razor blade to allow the lines to insert into the new valve press-in type fittings. Worked great / no leaks at the new valve. But, new leaks occurred at the water filter housing spraying down into the drip pan - these lines were never leaking before, but the lines were jostled during the water inlet valve replacement .... Second Problem - WATER FILTER HOUSING - In process of the water inlet valve repair, the "in" and "out" water lines at the water filter housing assembly started leaking where they entered the filter housing. I believe these are a 1/4" and a 5/16" line. I could not get them to stop leaking, removed and installed them several times into filter housing, ensuring complete tightness, and even cut fresh straight ends on each line with razor blade. So, I had to replace the water filter housing, which solved the problem. I did use a shop vac to suck up the extra water that leaked into drip pan, and after doing the job I vacuumed out the coils under the fridge from both the front and back of the refrigerator to improve the cooling performance. Used paper towels to clean up floor, etc. All is fixed, no leaks, both the water inlet valve and the water filter housing were replaced. No water lines had to be replaced. Making lots of ice now with nice full cubes. Read More... 65 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers

I am a 67 year old woman with a not so handy hubby who was also out of town, so wanted to get it fixed in the most economical way possible. Ordering on line was a savings and doing it myself was an even bigger savings. Between AppliancePartsPros and YouTube, this was an easy fix!! Thanks!
