Charles S Alabaster , AL July 03, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MDG6400AWW My gas dryer was working but not heating I watched a video on the Appliance Parts Pros website and then took the cover off the front of the dryer. I didn't have an Ohm meter to check the electrical but based on the video decided it was probably a problem with the igniter. I took the igniter off and noticed it had a burnt spot on it. I ordered a new part from AppliancePartsPros.com and the part came within 2 days! I easily installed the new igniter and it worked perfectly! If you're trying to diagnose this problem, remove the original igniter assembly first. As soon as I removed it (one screw) I could see that it was burnt out. More than likely, this will be your issue. It's a very simple repair. Tom B Dayton , NV July 11, 2015 Appliance: Model MGD9700AWM Dryer would run but no heat Once I found testing information (also on the APP web site), and figured out how to get to the main components (top, control, and front panel removal)I was able to determine with an ohmmeter that the secondary gas valve coil (the one with three pins) had an open circuit. The primary coil tested out of range, but no matter: the coil kit came with both. After replacement, it fired right up, and is actually performing better than before.
