Kenneth S San Carlos , CA April 15, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer LAT8740AAW 1 water leaking on the floor at left side and 2 occasionally tub filling a number of inches when sitting 1. Sleeve for input, Injector valve, nozzle and seal for input fixed this problem. Probably the main part that was the trouble was a deformed Injector Valve which is a rubber tube with an internal retention groove at the wide part that grips the Nozzle. The Sleeve and the Nozzle are hard plastic parts that basically looked fine, but I replaced them anyway while I was in there. Additionally I replaced the rubber Seal for Input which seals the plastic input fitting to the tub just to make sure no back splash was getting through there. The input fitting at the tub is a "turn 90 deg to release" type arrangement. 2. Replaced Water Inlet Valve assembly to cure occasional water found in tub after sitting. Solenoid valves in general can be trouble when they get some tiny debris or sediment in them. They'll open just fine, but when they close they sometimes can't seal perfectly due to material in the seat area. Hence the weeping that'll very slowly cause rising water in the tube when just sitting. Scary when you're away for awhile. Best to shut off valves at wall! Also replaced 2 belts underneath just for good measure. Read More... 129 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
Lyle P Brecksville , OH June 12, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer A212S Water leak on inlet hose assembly The water leak appeared to be coming from the inlet hose section that connects the solenoid valve to the back flow device, so I ordered that hose. When I got the part and had fully disassembled the washer I found that the leak was actually in the back low device itself. The injector valve, a small rubber tube, was torn. I immediately ordered this part and it was at my front door within two days. Installing this part cured the leak. I plan to return the hose that I had previously ordered.
